Saudi Hadden 2GW PV Project SS1 Substation Commissioning and Power Transmission Completed
On May 19th local time, the SS1 substation of the 2-gigawatt photovoltaic power station project in Jandah, Saudi Arabia, which was jointly constructed by China Energy Construction International Group, Guangdong Electric Power, and Northwest Institute, completed the reverse power transmission operation.
The project is located in the Hadan area of Taif City, Makkah Province, Saudi Arabia. The total installed capacity is 2 gigawatts and it is planned to commence commercial operation in early 2027. The project's construction includes engineering design, equipment procurement, transportation and installation, civil construction, transmission lines, substations, and grid connection commissioning, etc.
After the project is completed, it is estimated that the total power generation over 25 years will be approximately 156.189 billion kilowatt-hours, and it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 147 million tons. This will help Saudi Arabia achieve its goal of achieving "net zero emissions" by 2060 as soon as possible.
