The Japanese chemical company Tosoh Corporation and the South Korean polysilicon producer OCI have begun construction of a 10,000MT polysilicon plant in the Samalaju Industrial Park in Sarawak, Borneo, Malaysia.
In a statement, Doshan said, "Doshan and OCI TerraSus jointly established OTSM Company, which will be responsible for the production and sale of semi-finished polycrystalline silicon for semiconductors."
This factory with a production capacity of 10,000MT is under construction, with an investment of approximately 435 million US dollars.
OCIM Sdn Bhd (OCIMSB), a subsidiary of OCI in Malaysia, is currently operating a 35,000MT polysilicon plant in the Samalaju Industrial Park in Sarawak, Borneo. This plant was acquired from Tosoh in 2016. With this plant and a 3,000MT plant in Gunsan, South Korea, the group's total annual polysilicon production capacity now stands at 38,000MT.
