China Solar Materials Market Sees Mixed Price Movements

Prices of key materials used in solar module manufacturing showed mixed movements this week, with EVA particles rising while PET backsheets, aluminum frames, copper cables and steel mounting materials declined. Solar glass prices remained unchanged.

Key market trends:

EVA particles: Prices increased 1.0%, supported by production constraints and higher costs. However, weak demand and potential short-term supply growth may limit further gains.

PET backsheets: Prices fell 3.6%, amid concerns over downstream demand and expectations of looser ethylene glycol supply.

Aluminum frames: Prices declined 0.8%. Supply remained stable, while moderate demand and falling inventories provided some support.

Copper cables: Prices dropped 1.2% as purchasing demand remained weak and buyers focused on low-priced supplies.

Steel mounting materials: Hot-rolled coil prices edged down 0.3%, with weaker costs and continued inventory reduction expected to weigh on the market.

Solar glass: Prices remained stable. Module manufacturers maintained steady production and mainly purchased according to immediate needs, while weak end-market demand limited suppliers' ability to implement price increases.

Outlook: EVA prices are expected to fluctuate within a narrow range next week, while aluminum and copper prices may remain volatile. PET backsheets and steel materials could face further downward pressure, whereas solar glass prices are likely to remain broadly stable.
