Morocco Has Launched Africa's First Floating Photovoltaic Power Station

According to the Moroccan 360 Information Network, the first floating photovoltaic power station in Africa has recently been officially put into operation at the Oued Rmel dam adjacent to the Tangier-Mediterranean Port.

It is reported that this project is led by the Moroccan Ministry of Equipment and Water Resources. The Oued Loukkos Water Authority, in collaboration with multiple public and private institutions, is implementing it. It consists of approximately 22,000 photovoltaic modules and covers an area of 10 hectares of water. The power station not only continuously provides clean electricity to the Tangier Port but also effectively reduces water evaporation in the reservoir, achieving both economic and ecological benefits. This project marks a new breakthrough in Morocco's utilization of renewable energy and consolidates Morocco's leading position in solar energy utilization in Africa.
