Three Gorges Energy Reports Stable Growth in Solar Power Generation in Q2 2026

On July 9, China Three Gorges Renewables (Group) Co., Ltd. released its latest operational update, announcing that, based on preliminary statistics, the company generated a total of 19.749 billion kWh of electricity in the second quarter of 2026, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.12%.
Among the total power generation, wind power generation reached 11.482 billion kWh, down 1.80% year on year. Specifically, onshore wind power generation totaled 8.253 billion kWh, decreasing by 2.81%, while offshore wind power generation reached 3.229 billion kWh, increasing by 0.87% compared with the same period last year.
Meanwhile, solar power generation achieved significant growth, reaching 8.095 billion kWh, an increase of 5.44% year on year. The company’s independent energy storage facilities generated 172 million kWh, representing a year-on-year growth of 6.83%.
In the first half of 2026, Three Gorges Energy recorded a total power generation of 39.521 billion kWh, up 0.53% compared with the same period in 2025.
During the first six months of the year, wind power generation totaled 24.262 billion kWh, representing a year-on-year decline of 3.19%. Of this amount, onshore wind power contributed 16.870 billion kWh, down 3.73%, while offshore wind power contributed 7.392 billion kWh, decreasing by 1.92% year on year.
By contrast, the company’s solar power sector continued to demonstrate strong momentum, with cumulative generation reaching 14.894 billion kWh in the first half of 2026, marking a year-on-year increase of 7.07%.
The company’s independent energy storage business also maintained steady expansion, generating 365 million kWh during the first half of 2026, up 6.73% year on year.
The latest figures highlight the continued growth potential of renewable energy, particularly solar power, within Three Gorges Energy’s diversified clean energy portfolio. The company’s increasing solar generation capacity reflects the broader transition toward renewable energy integration and the growing importance of solar and energy storage technologies in China’s energy landscape.
