China Polysilicon Prices Remain Stable Amid Production Cuts

China’s polysilicon market remained stable this week, with prices unchanged and trading activity largely flat, according to data from Antaike. Market participants are closely monitoring production cuts and downstream demand for signs of a sustained recovery.

Key market updates:

N-type rod polysilicon: The average transaction price held steady at RMB 43,000 per tonne.

N-type granular polysilicon: Prices ranged from RMB 40,000 to RMB 41,000 per tonne, averaging RMB 40,300 per tonne, unchanged from the previous week.

Trading activity: Only two to three companies completed transactions, while some suppliers focused on fulfilling existing orders. Downstream buyers remained cautious amid futures-spot price differences and weak profitability across the supply chain.

September trade: China imported 1,750.4 tonnes of polysilicon, up 151.8% month on month, while exports fell 15.2% to 2,873.7 tonnes. China remained a net exporter, although average import and export prices declined.

Production adjustments have gradually taken effect since October, helping tighten supply and support price stability. However, buyers are waiting for clearer price signals and evidence that production cuts will have a lasting impact.

Outlook: Polysilicon prices are expected to remain relatively stable in the near term. Market developments will depend on the implementation of production cuts, improvements in downstream profitability and changes in futures and spot prices.
